I found the Yahoo group freecycle, and it is amazing. It's an online community of people looking to recycle things they don't use anymore to someone that needs it. I've been a member of various areas , due to moving, and have found it a wonderful source to give and receive items. For instance, my first item was a Foosball table. At the time we had 4 children living in my house and a shortage of activities to get them to not stand in front of the TV when Law and Order was on. I couldn't have that. At that time there was only one spin off. I couldn't afford to miss a second due to kids wanting to play with me because they were bored. Alright, anyways...A terrific angel posted an offer ad for a Foosball table. She lived right down the street and I gladly ran over there and picked up this answer to all my woes. Now 6 years later, and seeing as it has become my son's catch all, we in turn will freecycle it back into the community to save another mom from having to miss her favorite show.
You can find just about everything on there. I have freecycled my families old clothes, toys, video cameras, and furniture just to name a few. You can find clothing, TVs, bikes, furniture, dishes, nick-nacks and on and on. You have to get permission from the moderators before becoming a member. And you can only sign up in the area that you live. It's really a win-win for everyone. People get rid of stuff they don't need and it goes to someone who can use it, keeping it out of the landfills. You also can post wanted ads. You never know you could be in desperate need of something that Suzy down the street is about to put in the trash. You could say that your saving the world by freecycling. Well as always guys remember to keep on saving money and having fun.
