Restaurant.com

   I'm not sure how many of you know about Restaurant.com. It's a great site. But don't pay even their low price. You can always find a discount code online that lowers the price even more. Here's how it works. Restaurants need advertising and they can advertise on Restaurant.com for basically free. They agree to give out x amount of gift certificates in exchange for their restaurant being on the site. In return Restaurant.com get to sell these certificates. They always have them half off of face value. So always you can get a $25 gift certificate for 10-15 dollars. Already a good deal. But if you are as thrifty as me you can do even better. I found a code this week that gave me 80% off of their rate. So I got a $25 cert for $3. Pretty cool right. I will post all the codes I find each day so you don't even have to do the work. There are a few catches to this deal that you should know. First is chain restaurants don't need free advertising so they are not on there. But who doesn't like a good mom and pop place that not all the tourist are at? Second the fine print....You have to spend a minimum of $35. But really that's not hard to do especially with a family of four. Being in a touristy area we have an advantage. There is more competition for the restaurants here to try and get that almighty dollar so we have tons listed in this area. And don't worry you week long Orlandians even you can cash in on this when you visit and we won't hold it against you. Okay catch three. This one I didn't mind until tonight. You have to pay 18% gratuity on the entire check prior to discount. I've been a waitress for years and this did not bother me because I usually tip above that. But I got a $25 cert for a restaurant that my husband likes for father's day. We went to a different location than we normally go to and the service was terrible the food so-so. Our bill was $52 and we had to pay over $10 to tip. We walked paying $40. We still saved but were not happy with the service. And feel the waitress made out huge because she did nothing. We had to get our own refills. This is the only time we didn't like that policy and I use them a lot. Well hope you guys are saving money and having fun.
